Our first Rare Books auction of 2021 will take place on Wednesday 31 March and we are pleased to now invite entries for the catalogue.
Despite the restrictions placed on us due to Covid-19 and the postponement of two of our auctions, the market for the year 2020 was remarkably buoyant and we believe this trend will continue into 2021.
Major items for our first sale of 2021 include:
Antonio Zatta – La Nuova Zelanda trascorsa nel 1769, 1770 Dal Cook Comandante Dell’Endeavour.
Venice 1778. The first published map of the whole of New Zealand, based on discoveries made on Cook’s first voyage.
Sir Walter Lawry Buller – A History of the Birds of New Zealand. London 1873, first edition.
Testimonial to James Benn Bradshaw from “The young women of Dunedin” extending to him their grateful thanks for his work in achieving his employment of females act [1873] restricting work to eight hours a day.
