Collecting Gold Collecting Dust: John Perry, Collector & Modern Decorative Arts

Art+Object's October 24 & 25 spring catalogue featured over 600 lots in total and the total sale receipts after the two auction nights of over $630 000 (inc. buyers' premium) was a highly satisfactory result.


The second evening consisted of 220 artworks, folk art and ceramics from the collection of the legendary artworld identity John Perry. The centrepiece of John's collection was a wonderful suite of works by Theo Schoon and Dennis Knight Turner with both of whom John enjoyed a close association with as a curator and close friend. Other highlights include strong pricing for rare New Zealand folk art and ceramics by Barry Brickell. The sale week concluded with Modern Decorative Arts which saw excellent prices achieved for Len Castle ceramics and modern design furniture.
