Contemporary Art & Objects

Our first catalogue featured a Peter Robinson sculpture on the cover - and was the first dedicated Contemporary art auction in Australasia. We were fortunate to receive tremendous support from New Zealand collectors as vendors which meant A+O was able to offer some very important works in our first auction including one of Michael Parekowhai's classic Ten Guitars and the superb Ricky Swalllow Blanket Shark which sold for an auction record. In the object catalogue we were honoured to have been consigned a superb collaborative work by Len Castle and Theo Schoon. Len visited us with these rare items as his way of wishing us good luck. We were delighted to be able to deliver him an excellent sale price. Other highlights from our very first catalogue include then record prices for Liz Maw, Stephen Bambury and Ronnie van Hout, and the first work by Damian Hirst to be offered in New Zealand.
