Important Paintings

A catalogue that will be remembered for including an important suite of early Ralph Hotere works which sold exceptionally well, many fetching well in excess of pre-sale estimates. A n important 1972 Koru painting by Gordon Walters also sold for the highest price at auction for the artist since2001. The catalogue also included a rare work by New Zealand born artist Rosalie Gascoigne which sold to a Melbourne based collector. Other highlights included a major canvas by Louise Henderson and a large canvas by Karl Maughan which set an artist auction record.
