Important Paintings & Contemporary Art

Art+Object’s final Important Paintings & Contemporary Art auction of 2017 took place in front of a large and enthusiastic crowd of bidders. The auction commenced with fourteen lots from the collection of the Artrix Group, which were met with animated bidding from the room and on the phone with all but one lot from the collection selling well in excess of their estimates. Following the Artrix collection the remainder of the auction included further works from mixed vendors, with strong interest coming from absentee and phone bidders. The top price of the evening went to Gordon Walters’ Untitled (acrylic on canvas, 1991) at $88 890. The auction resulted in a turnover of $1 100 000 under the hammer.
