Important Paintings & Contemporary Art

6:00PM 3 Abbey Street, Newton, Auckland

Art+Object is in the preliminary production stages of a quality catalogue of Important Paintings & Contemporary Art to be held on April 3rd. The catalogue will feature many notable, finely provenanced works by Aotearoa-New Zealand's leading artists. Further suitable consignments are now invited up until March 6th.

Highlights include major large-scale sculptural works by Paul Dibble and Phil Price. A major 1970s surrealist, abstract geometric 'sky form' painting by Brent Wong will appear on the auction market for the first time, alongside significant contemporary paintings by John Pule and Shane Cotton, the latter sharing its title with the landmark 2014 Christchurch Art Gallery Te Puna o Waiwhetu exhibition, 'Baseland'. Another highlight is an 'Op Art' painting by Victor Vasarely originally purchased in Paris and now held in a private Christchurch collection. Further early entries of note include works by Frances Hodgkins, Fiona Pardington, Charles Tole, Allen Maddox, Judy Millar, Colin McCahon, Jacqueline Fahe

The auction will be conducted live in our Newton saleroom with online bidding available via our online bidding platform or app available on App Store or Google Play. See below for more bidding options.
