Auction Highlights
Posted on 5 May 2023
Art+Object is happy to report a sale total $2 490 979 realised from Tuesday evening's auction, our first Important Paintings and Contemporary Art auction of 2023. Highlights from the sale include the setting of a new record price for the work of Ralph Hotere, one of the giants of Aotearoa-New Zealand art, whose large-scale unstretched canvas Pine: Without Singing (1988) brought $366 550. Charles Frederick Goldie’s 1918 portrait of Hōri Pōkai was one of three significant historical works and it sold post-auction for an undisclosed price. Sculpture continued to fare well at auction with Paul Dibble’s large-scale bronze, View over the Interior realising $243 700, and works by Seung Yul Oh and Chris Charteris bringing prices in excess of their top estimates.
A full list of prices realised is now available here.
