Last night's New Collectors' art auction featured a diverse offering of 200 works. It was the first sale in a three-part auction with 20th Design and Ceramics taking place on Thursday night and Asian Art and Ceramics on the following Tuesday night. The top-selling lot of the evening was Allen Maddox's Grid (illustrated) which came from the collection of Barbara and Sam Pillsbury and which was repatriated from America for the auction, it realized $12 605. The clearance rate on the night was a very respectable %70 and the sales-by-value figure currently sits at $271 725. Some of the preliminary highlights included:
