Special Viewing at McCahon House Museum, Sunday 30 March 2014

Posted on 13 March 2014

On Sunday March 30th ART+OBJECT will be publicly exhibiting five works by Colin McCahon from our upcoming April 3rd auction of Important Paintings and Contemporary Art at the artist's original Auckland residence, now the McCahon House Museum in Titirangi. This event has been prompted by two 1950s paintings which would have been painted at the house, French Bay (1956) and Black and White Landscape (1959). The latter painting has been missing off the McCahon database and from all recent records of the artist's work. Also on view will be the significant 1976 painting Clouds 7, repatriated from Australia for auction.

Please join us at the McCahon House, 67 Otitori Bay Road, French Bay, Titirangi between 11:00am and 4:00pm on Sunday 30th March when the two 1950s works will be available for viewing in the context in which they were painted, alongside three further works by the artist.

The remainder of the auction will be on view simultaneously at ART+OBJECT, 3 Abbey Street, Newton from Thursday 27th March.
