Art+Object is delighted to report a sale total of $1 789 000 for both collection auctions last night, Tuesday 5 November. A healthy crowd was in attendance and bidding was heated on many lots to create an atmosphere in which many works outperformed their estimates and set new benchmarks. A new record price was set for a work at auction by Marti Friedlander and the top price of the evening went to Colin McCahon's painting, The First Bellini Madonna (illustrated), which sold for $420 420.
