The Tim & Sherrah Francis Collection

Art+Object are in the final stages of catalogue production for the phenomenal collection of Tim and Sherrah Francis. All lots will be illustrated online from next Friday 19 August and the hard-copy limited edition publication will be launched in Wellington on the evening of Thursday 25 August at Suite Gallery, 241 - 243 Cuba Street from 6:00pm - 8:00pm. Selected limited highlights from the collection will also be previewed that evening and will continue to be on view at Suite Gallery on Friday and Saturday 26 and 27 August from 9:00am - 4:30pm. The entire collection will be on view at Art+Object in Auckland from Thursday 1 September from 6pm.

Over five decades Tim and Sherrah Francis assembled one of the most significant private collections of New Zealand art and ceramics in this country, much of which has never been seen before publicly. They collected many of our most significant artists in depth over multiple decades and their collection includes rare and museum quality artworks by Colin McCahon (5), Rita Angus (3), Michael Illingworth (4), Gordon Walters (6), Andrew McLeod (4), Yvonne Todd (7), Richard Killeen (5), Milan Mrkusich (5), Toss Woollaston (6), Bill Hammond (3) and many more. Over 200 artworks will be offered across both evenings along with their collection of New Zealand pottery, Asian ceramics and books from their extensive art library.
