Decorative Arts

A+O's October catalogue recorded one of the most successful auctions of this type in recent years with total sales of over $650 000 and a raft of interesting highlights. On night one - Tuesday's New Collectors Art catalogue, a good crowd in the gallery and the positive effect of The Tim and Sherrah Francis Collection catalogue was evident in vigorous bidding and plenty of new faces in the room. Wednesday's Decorative Arts sale started off with energy as multiple international internet bidders competed for the Pacifica items in the catalogue. Bidding was also strong across the NZ studio pottery and modern design sections with strong prices recorded for works by Len Castle, Rick Rudd, Bronwynne Cornish and Doreen Blumhardt.
