New Collectors Art, Studio Ceramics & Applied Art

6:00PM 3 Abbey Street, Newton, Auckland

Art+Object's second New Collector's Art, Studio Ceramics & Applied Arts catalogue for the year is now available to browse online.

We are delighted to present a varied selection of New Zealand and International artworks, including two private collections. The sale opens with ten artworks from the collection of the much-admired painter and printmaker Marilynn Webb ONZM. Included are works by Ralph Hotere, Adrienne Martyn, John Pule, Laurence Aberhart, and Carol Schiffleger among others.

Sydney-based collector Maureen Yee has acquired a fine selection of New Zealand studio ceramics over the last 30 years. The collection began via Maureen’s ‘kid’ brother, Auckland architect the late Ron Sang, and over the years he passed on his wonderful knowledge of, and love for NZ potters. Maureen is now in her 80s and would like to see her collection find new owners who will love living with them as she has.

Also in the auction is a fine selection of contemporary work by artists including Gretchen Albrecht, a series of gelatin silver prints taken by Gordon Walters, and a suite of Ralph Hotere’s Manhire’s Midnight Windows at Carey’s Bay.

The works will be on view from Friday 10th May. You can bid via our personalised app (which can be downloaded via the App Store or Google Play), or via our desktop platform at live.artandobject.co.nz. This is a timed online auction, which will begin closing with lot 1 from 6pm on Tuesday 14 May. Thereafter, lots will close consecutively every 15 seconds, until completion. If a lot receives a bid within the last two minutes, it will auto-extend until no further bids are placed, without holding up the rest of the auction.

If you have any questions about the auction or to request condition reports, please contact us: info@artandobject.co.nz or 093544646.
