Following on from the success of two large and important single vendor sales, Rare Antarctic Books from the Library of Richard Reaney and early New Zealand and Maori printings from The Christopher Parr Collection, Art+Object's spring book auction on Wednesday 25 September featured a large and varied catalogue.

Catalogue highlights included: early New Zealand history including John Savage’s Some Account of New Zealand; rare and collectable books on angling; modern first editions; important New Zealand literature including Private Press editions and handwritten poems by James K. Baxter and Hone Tuwhare; first editions from the Caxton Club; rare children’s books; early rugby programmes; a large Burton Brothers photograph album; and Antarctic books including Castway on the Auckland Isles by Captain Thomas Musgrave (Melbourne, 1865). Of particular interest are John Keat’s Endymion published by the Golden Cockerel Press and illustrated by John Buckland Wright, and a trial proof, wood cut engraving of Persephone by John Buckland Wright.
