Auction Highlights

Art+Object is happy to report a sale total of $3 039 527 from last night’s final art auction of 2021. Whilst the year has presented many obvious challenges for all of us it has been satisfying to play a small part in a great period of growth for the wider New Zealand art market and to finish 2021 on a high note.
The sale began with the collection of the Fitzherbert Post-Impressionist Group and spirited bidding between members of the group and the wider public. Twenty of twenty-one works from the group sold under the hammer, bringing a combined total of $212 700. In the main body of the sale new record prices were set for the work of David McCracken ($43 453) and Gordon Walters, with his superb 1971 ‘Koru’ work from the collection of Peter McLeavey, realising $784 550 when a sale was finalized this morning for its reserve price. Other excellent prices were achieved for works by Brent Wong, Fiona Pardington, Jenny Dolezel, Peter Robinson, Bill Hammond, Pat Hanly, Tony Fomison, Len Castle, Nigel Brown and Mervyn Williams.
Art+Object congratulates all the successful bidders from the auction and thanks all of our clients for their on-going support.
