Art+Object's final Important Paintings & Contemporary Art auction for 2018 was perhaps its strongest art auction of the year. Just over 3.25 million dollars of modern and contemporary New Zealand art was sold under the hammer. The top price of the evening went to Don Binney's magnificent Pastoral, Te Henga (1965 - 1966) which made a new record price of $684 685, against a pre-sale estimate of $450 000 - $650 000. Underlying strength was evident across all tiers of the art market with many strong and record prices achieved.
